Mr. Morris represents both public and private sector clients, advising them on a wide range of legal matters, including personnel issues, employee grievances and terminations, employment contracts, student discipline, construction, competitive bidding and policy development. His practice also includes representation of public and private sector clients in a wide variety of litigation, including civil rights, employment and construction litigation. He has had extensive trial experience in state and federal court (both jury and non-jury cases), before administrative agencies, and substantial state and federal appellate experience. He has been peer reviewed by Martindale-Hubbell, receiving an AV rating, which denotes the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards and was selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers: Rising Stars (2004) and Texas Super Lawyers (2009 and 2010). Mr. Morris served as an adjunct professor of appellate advocacy at South Texas College of Law from 1991 to 2000.
Mr. Morris began his legal career working at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P. in its Business Litigation Section. He joined David Feldman in practice in 1993 and became a partner in the firm in 1997.
Mr. Morris is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; U.S. District Court, Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas.
Education and Honors
Mr. Morris received his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988, and graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law in 1991 where he served on the school’s law review and was a member of both the Order of the Lytae and Order of Barristers. He was also a Langdell Scholar and a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Honor Scholar Award and the Houston Hispanic Bar Association’s De Anda Scholarship. In law school, he competed as a member of several national moot court teams, including the winning team of the American Bar Association’s National Moot Court Championship (1990), winning awards both as an oralist and brief writer.
